Mrs. Witter & Mrs. O'Hehir

We just celebrated the 100th Day of School!

Our Schedule

During the first week of school, both Mrs. Witter and Mrs. O'Hehir are in the class teaching every day. We love establishing a supportive learning environment and have a great time working together getting to know our kids.

During the year, Mrs. Witter teaches in the classroom every Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday. Mrs. O'Hehir teaches on the opposite Wednesday, and every Thursday and Friday.

Homework Policy

he LGUSD homework policy for second grade states that students will complete 20 minutes of independent reading, as well as an additional 20 minutes of assigned work each night.

The goal of the second grade team is to make homework a meaningful experience that reinforces concepts learned in class, as well as a lesson in responsibility.

Children will be given homework in a weekly packet. Weekly homework will be aligned to Spelling, Reading, Writing, and Math investigations. Homework packets come home on Monday and are due on Friday. Please do not send your child’s homework back early. If your child is unable to complete the homework for the week, please send in a signed note along with the homework packet.

In addition to the assigned homework, all students are required to read for at least 20 minutes daily and fill out the corresponding reading log that is included in the weekly homework packet. Daily reading will be a part of your child’s homework grade on the report card.

Homework grading is based on work being complete or incomplete, and it must be neat. If homework comes back incomplete or messy, students will complete the assignment at recess and/or lunch if needed. Late homework assignments will be accepted, but multiple late/incomplete assignments will be reflected on the report card.
